This week I made the transition to Linux from Windows for development. Less headache coupled with free and powerful tools were the incentives. I went with Ubuntu 12. 10 as the distro, which is recommended as being friendly to new users. Setting up a dual boot, with Windows on my SSD and Ubuntu on a hard drive partition, was a breeze.
