Ay is celebrated on September 7. President Grover Cleveland made Labor Day a holiday. He made it a holiday in 1894. Labor Day honors the fight for workers rights. People used to work long hours for only a bit of money. Even children worked for long hours. On this holiday we have picnics and cookouts. Football season starts, too. Most people have the day off.
