Ernst Kohleick was captured by Allied forces near Marburg, Germany on March 29, 1945. He was shipped to America on the USS Henry Middleton, a Liberty ship. He arrived in Algona in May, and remained there for the rest of the war. Kohleick returned to Germany to find his family home destroyed by Allied bombers, but his family was safe, and he was able to return to his studies. Start your own free website. Richard Jaeger was held at Camp Algona from March 1944 to January 1945. He was captured in Italy in 1944, and spent six weeks making the journey to America. Once there, he worked on several farms harvesting crops, and at a cannery. After the war, Jaeger remembered the good treatment he received at Camp Algona. He remembers being well fed and was able to make positive connections with his American guards and employers. Start your own free website.
Werner Meinel spent time in both Camp Algona and the Owatonna, Minnesota Branch Camp.
