ENG 353 Break Any Woman Down. The overall purpose of our website is to explore the theme of power distribution in relationships and its relevance to race and the black community in particular. Edwidge Danticat was born in Haiti and experienced some of these images first hand, while the women in her family shared stories about their experiences to her as well. This short story collection belongs to the fiction genre, but there are many pieces that were inspired by true events.
