Hugo André Tiago Monteiro was born the november 13, 1981 in Covilhã, Portugal. He began his musical studies at the Academia de Música e Dança do Fundão with Carlos Branco. In 1998 he joined Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior where he studied initially with João Fortunato Panta Nunes, and subsequently with Miguel Leiria Pereira. He attended Masterclasses with Rinat Imbraguimov, Rainer Zepperitz and Fernando Flores. Is a founding member of the Ensemble Contemporaneus.
