Graphic can be signs, like the letters of the alphabet, or from part of another system of signs, like road marking. Put together, graphic marks- the lines of drawing or dots of making or choosing marks and arranging them on a surface to convey an idea. A sign is not a picture. Graphic images are more than descriptive illustrations of things seen or imagined. They are signs whose context gives them unique meaning, and whose positioning can lend them a new significance.
