After the war, the new communist government started mass campaign of collectivizing farms and factories. This caused an economic as inflation rapidly rose. Reconstruction of country was slow. The communist regime also had to deal with many humanitarian and economic problems. Asa result of the degraded state of life, many people fled the ravaged country.
